Meet Sally Lowe
"I love my life, which consists of horses, dogs and an outdoor lifestyle that brings all these things together!"
A love of art and horses have been a constant in my life since I was a young girl. When my own children became involved with the things I was passionate about, I thought I had hit the jackpot. As soon as they were old enough; I signed my kids up for the local Pony Club in our area.
Even though at this point I was twenty years into a thirty year career in corporate marketing, I had never strayed far from my roots as an artist. In the mid-eighties, I earned my MFA in painting and printmaking from VCU. This coupled with sewing and needlework skills taught to me as a child by my mother furnished me with basic skill sets in creating a wide variety of fine crafts. though at this point I was twenty years into a thirty year career in corporate marketing, I had never strayed far from my roots as an artist. One day I decided that I wanted to experiment with making jewelry that would be comfortable to wear all day long around sweaty horses and messy kids. I started showing up at various pony club events with my jewelry kit in hand and busily crocheted cord and tied knots to make necklaces. Before I knew it, friends were asking me to make pieces for them. After a year or two of refining my skills (and giving pieces away), I decided to start selling my work. I'd show up at a pony club rally with a couple dozen pieces of jewelry and sit in the grandstand. Typically, within and hour or two word would get around that I was with my jewelry and everything I brought would be sold. That was ten years ago.
This was the beginning of Sally Lowe Design and the creation of jewelry inspired by my love of horses, dogs and the sporting life.
Today, the jewelry I make continues to reflect the same passion with which it started. It has to be timeless and unique, rugged enough to be worn all day in the barn and stylish enough for a cocktail party.
Much of my work is one-of-a-kind and my inventory turns quickly, so if you see something you love, buy it now because it may be gone tomorrow!
I want you to love wearing your jewelry as much as I love making it so repairs and alteration are always done at no cost to you.
I love bringing your visions and passions to life, so if you don't see what you are looking for on my website, then email me to discuss a commissioned piece. Much of what I do consists of bespoke pieces made from family heirlooms or vintage findings.
