A love of art and horses have been a constant in my life since I was a young girl. Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia was a great place for someone with my passions. I began fox hunting in my early teens and still hunt today with Deep Run Hunt in Manakin-Sabot, Virginia.
I receive an MFA from VCU in 1986 but then quickly got caught up in the world of business and starting a family. Both my art and riding went on the back burner for nearly a decade. Then about ten years ago I started experimenting with equestrian jewelry using vintage buttons, antique equestrian medals and other vintage findings. I wanted to make something that was pretty to look at and easy to wear at the same time. It had to be durable enough to be worn in and around the barn and still look good if I went out a night.
This was the beginning of GoodSport by Sally Lowe and the creation of jewelry inspired by my love of horses, hounds and the outdoor life.
Most of my work is one-of-a-kind and my inventory turns quickly. Please email me if you don't see what you are looking for and/or to discuss a commissioned piece. Fifty percent of what I do consists of bespoke pieces made from family heirlooms or vintage findings.
