Antique medals such as this were once given as awards at dog shows and trials, horse shows and agricultural fairs. Most of these medals date to the early 1900's and come from western Europe. This 1 3/4"" sterling silver medal has been bezel wrapped in sterling silver and suspended from a necklace of hand-knotted white freshwater pearls measuring in 20" in length with a crocheted cord closure over a large pearl.
